How the belt filter press works 

Our belt filter presses continuously separate solids from water. The entire process is fully automatic and designed for high throughput:

1. Mixing and preparation 

First, the thickened sludge (from process water treatment) enters a reactor upstream of the belt filter press. There it is mixed with a flocculant. This step ensures that the fine solids in the sludge combine to form larger flocs so that  clean water can be pressed out in the next step.

2. Pre-dewatering and turning of the material 

The sludge is distributed evenly on the filter belt. Most of the water already flows off at this stage. The sludge cake is then turned.

3. Dewatering by increasing pressure 

The sludge is then pressed between two belts. As the rollers become smaller and smaller in the direction of travel, the pressure increases steadily. This results in as much water as possible being pressed out and a solid cake being formed.

4. Material discharge and belt cleaning 

At the end, scraper blades remove the dewatered sludge from the belts. To maintain consistent filter performance, the belts are cleaned with high-pressure nozzles. Sensors and compressed air cylinders automatically ensure that the belts run taut and centered.

Yes. If necessary, the required thick sludge is produced from a sand/gravel mixture in our in-house technical center. This thick sludge is then fed into the chamber filter press to determine precise dewatering results for your material.

The cleaning interval depends heavily on the sludge composition. The belt filter press continuously cleans the belts with high-pressure nozzles. For chamber filter presses, we offer an automated plate washing system.
