CLARITY metal sorting: technologies at a glance

The CLARITY metal sorting machine combines several beyond state-of-the-art sensor technologies to enable precise and efficient separation of a wide range of metal fractions. The applied technologies at a glance:

1. Camera technologies

CLARITY uses special camera systems to sort metals. Cameras in the visible range, for example, detect color differences and can thus distinguish non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass or aluminum from gray metals and plastic-coated cables. Near-infrared technology, on the other hand, enables even more precise identification based on specific infrared spectra.

2. LIBS technology

CLARITY uses LIBS technology to analyze the chemical composition of each individual metal part. This allows aluminum scrap to be separated into alloy-pure products such as AL6060 with the highest precision. This technology also makes it possible to separate metals that could not be reliably distinguished using optical or mechanical processes.

3. Artificial intelligence

AI-based recognition systems identify recognize even the finest differences in shape, structure and material. Meatballs, rolled aluminum profiles, cast aluminum, stainless steel, circuit boards and cables can be precisely sorted out. Thanks to pattern recognition, the system can distinguish even the smallest details, such as green circuit boards and green plastic. AI algorithms can also be used to sort profiles and cast parts from aluminum scrap according to optical properties.

4. Inductive sensors

Inductive sensors enable the reliable recovery of metals, such as the extraction of ZURIK from heterogeneous eddy current drops. The technology works in a similar way to metal detectors at airports: it recognizes metals based on the disturbance of an electromagnetic field and sorts them out efficiently.

5. 3D scanner

A high-resolution 3D scanner captures the shape and dimensions of objects in order to precisely analyze their geometry. This technology supports us in recognizing complex structures.

Sensor fusion for metal sorting

By combining different technologies, CLARITY can be flexibly adapted to different tasks. Depending on the material composition and purity requirements, the sensors can be specifically combined to achieve optimum results.

Advantages with the CLARITY metal sorting machine

The CLARITY metal sorting system enables precise sorting of a wide variety of metals - even those that were previously considered inseparable. All benefits at a glance:

CUSTOMIZED
SOLUTIONS

While many suppliers offer standardized solutions, Binder+Co develops customized sorting systems that are perfectly tailored to customer requirements.

COMPLEX
TASKS

AI and LIBS technologies can solve even complex sorting tasks. Materials that were previously considered unsortable can now be separated efficiently.

SIMPLE
HANDLING

CLARITY metal sorting systems are user-friendly and low-maintenance. No specially trained personnel are required for the operation.

SPACE-SAVING
DESIGN

The CLARITY impresses with its compact design that requires little space. This also makes integration into existing systems very straightforward.

HIGHEST QUALITY

FAQs: CLARITY metal sorting systems

Yes, our machines with LIBS technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are already beeing in use successfully. They are installed in active production plants and have proven to be a reliable solution for our customers. In addition to industrial use, our systems are also used in university facilities.

Our machines can efficiently sort a wide range of metals in the recycling process. The prerequisite for precise separation is that the material is shredded, free-flowing and in a defined particle size range.

The throughput capacity of our sorting systems varies depending on the type of material, bulk density and grain size. In practice, sorting rates of 1 to 15 tons per hour can be achieved, depending on the conditions. Our experts will be happy to provide you with more detailed information on specific material inquiries.

Yes, it is generally possible to add additional materials at a later date. Additional sorting recipes can be taught in and adapted at the customer's request. This is always done in close consultation with our Service-Team, to ensure optimum performance.

Teaching in the materials requires special expertise and appropriately trained personnel. We therefore recommend carrying out this process in close consultation with our Binder+Co service team in order to achieve optimum results.

Our sorting machines have been successfully in use for over 20 years and are characterized by their durability. They are low-maintenance, run reliably over several shifts and the installed valves are designed for high impact rates.

After the one-off adjustment, the sorting system runs largely autonomously and adapts to certain material fluctuations without significantly impairing the separation function.

Yes, the machine can be easily integrated into existing plant control systems. If required, our service team will support you with the integration.
