Hydrocyclone for Sand and Raw Material Processing

Our hydrocyclone is the solution to the challenges of sludge removal and dewatering. The compact hydrocyclone systems are precisely tailored to your requirements, enabling efficient sludge separation while ensuring high-quality fine particles.

Hydrocyclones from COMEC-Binder: Your Benefits

The GCS compact systems combine cyclones and dewatering screens into a high-performance unit. Benefit from technology specifically designed for durability and precision:

PREMIUM-QUALITY SAND

Precise separation ensures sand that meets industry standards and the highest quality requirements. They dewater highly efficiently—to achieve an optimal fine-particle content.

MAXIMUM THROUGPUT

With a capacity of up to 230 t/h of sand and the ability to process up to 720 m³ of water per hour, our compact hydrocyclone systems are the ideal choice.

COMPACT & MODULAR DESIGN

The space-saving design allows for easy integration into existing plants. Thanks to its flexible configuration, the system can be precisely adapted to your specific requirements.

REDUCED OPERATING COSTS

We select the optimal pump and use highly wear-resistant materials. This reduces energy consumption and extends your plant’s maintenance intervals.

Hydrocyclone: Function & Process

The hydrocyclone operates in a centrifugal field to remove slurry particles from the sand. In combination with a dewatering screen, the produced sand is dewatered to a minimum

1. Feed of water-sand mixture

The suspension is pumped tangentially into the hydrocyclone at high pressure. This special feed creates a strong vortex inside the hydrocyclone (centrifugal effect).

2. Separation in the centrifugal field

The heavier sand particles are flung toward the outer wall of the machine and move downward. Smaller and lighter particles, along with most of the water, collect in the center and are discharged upward.

3. Dewatering & Final Processing

The thickened sand exits at the outlet and can be directed directly to a downstream dewatering screen. Here, the residual moisture is reduced to a minimum, resulting in a final product ready for sale.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Hydrocyclone

A hydrocyclone alone concentrates the material. In combination with our integrated dewatering screens, we achieve a residual moisture content of less than 15% in the final product, making the sand immediately ready for transport and storage.

The interiors of our hydrocyclones are lined with special, highly wear-resistant rubber compounds. These protect the housing and significantly extend service life.

Depending on the application, sand traps or screw classifiers can also be used. However, the hydrocyclone is the most efficient solution when dealing with high water volumes and when a compact design is desired.

The majority of a hydrocyclone’s energy consumption is attributable to pump power. Choosing the right pump—precisely tailored to your specific flow rates and material concentrations—can significantly reduce operating costs—we’d be happy to advise you!
