Plastics Sorting
The Sorting of plastics is one of Binder+Co´s main topics. Packaging ordinance, recede of fossile raw materials, landfill directives and changing legal conditions are the base of an increasing demand on secondary raw materials.
Binder+Co´s experience in the sorting of plastic goes back to the year 1995, when the company was awarded the „Erzherzog-Johann-Price“ of the Styrian Economy Society for the realization of a turnkey plastic recycling plant.
The main focus of Binder+Co´s Environmental technology department is the processing of the Light Packaging fraction and the Energy Supply Contributes. Besides the sorting of mixed valued materials, like paper, covered and non-covered cardboard in various combinations the segregation by the kind of plastic is of the essence.
Materials are collected for reuse in various different collection systems. Waste streams are devided in single material flows. The cleaner such fraction, the better it can be reused in the production - circle.
Plastic materials like PET, PE, PP, PVC or Tetra Pack, but also Paper or cardboarddiffer in their chemical and physical consistence. They can be identified by their spectral information. Therefore a highly sophisticated NIR – Camerasystem is used and a process of image-guided spectroscopy. Once a clean fraction is produced it can additionally be sorted by its colour, optionally by using a transmission – or an incident light system. In addtition to that the machines can be equipped with non-ferrous metal sensors.
